Over the past decades, the production of movies in the region such as "Miss Congeniality", "True Grit", "Dazed and Confused" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" as well as other award-winning films shown on silver screens has been a part of Austin's pop culture.
Austin is on the rise and we know this means big things for the future. One thing to keep in mind is that many celebrities, as well as productions, are moving here including Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios while comedian-podcaster Joe Rogan who recently moved to Austin last 2020, plans to open up a comedy club in Austin.
From Austin Business Journal, the major streaming service company, Netflix, has rented about 20,000 square feet of space in East Austin for 12-18 months. At the same time, another company that you may know as Home Box Office Inc. or HBO has rented 110,000 square feet in Kyle Crossing for one year. This 40-acre business park is now fully leased.
HBO will use their Kyle Crossing space as storage while they film true-crime series, Lockhart. Netflix is casting residents of Austin for their new reality show Roaring Twenties while Queer Eye started filming its sixth season in Austin as well.
More large corporations such as Oracle and Dropbox have made decisions to migrate their operations to Austin while Tesla's Gigafactory is set to complete its build before the end of 2021. These companies have a major impact on the state's economy and the housing market.
It is projected that Austin's major jobs sectors will expand over the next few years. This will most notably take place in the tech, healthcare, and finance industries.
