The largest transit-oriented master-planned community in Austin, Texas is officially underway. Uptown ATX, formerly referred to as Broadmoor, is a $3 billion, 66-acre construction project near the Domain that will bring over 7 million square feet of workspace, family apartments, retail, and hospitality. A new Capital Metro Rail Station will also be located at the heart of the development. As the population of Austin continues to grow, the city’s so-called second downtown will dramatically enlarge this area along Burnet Road near North MoPac Expressway.
President and CEO of Brandywine Realty Trust said in a news release that the transit experience along with the master-planned community’s more than 11 acres of parks and access to 23 miles of jogging and bike trails will make Uptown ATX one of the most unique sites in the country for community building.
The $328 million mixed project called One Uptown will be developed by Brandywine Realty Trust in partnership with Canyon Partners Real Estate. Its first phase is being built on 5-acres and will offer the following:
14-story office tower with 348,000 square feet office space
341 units of multi-family with world-class amenities of a resort-style pool, club room, and a fitness center
15,000 square feet of retail
6-story parking garage
In establishing Uptown ATX as the new brand, Bill Redd, Executive Vice President and Senior Managing Director for Brandywine Realty Trust stated that an opportunity was seen to integrate connections to Austin both physical and philosophical including increased access to jobs, affordable housing, green space, and live/work/play neighborhoods.
The Chase at Uptown will be the next project up for development. A new construction two-building apartment project that will bring 529 apartment units with 272 multi-family units in the West Phase and 257 units in the East Phase. While Skyrise, the crown jewel of Uptown ATX, will consist of two-high rise office buildings and will deliver roughly 1.3 million gross square feet of office space.
